Families of the Frontier

About Our Story

Families today are overwhelmed by activities that pull everyone in different directions. Boys go to one program, girls to another, teens to another, and parents spend their evenings driving instead of growing together. Families stay busy, but not united.

Families of the Frontier began because we wanted something that kept the whole household together. We wanted a place where parents lead, children participate, siblings help each other, and everyone learns side by side. A single gathering. A shared rhythm. A life that builds the home instead of scattering it.
FOF was created to restore unity in the Christian household through skills, simple traditions, time outdoors, and a common life parents and children actually live together.

What Is Families of the Frontier

Families of the Frontier is a Christian, family-centered outdoor organization built on shared work, shared skills, and shared faith. We do not bolt a Bible study onto the end of an activity. The entire gathering is faith-filled. Learning a skill, taking a hike, cooking a meal, or serving the community all become opportunities for Scripture, prayer, and formation.

Every Tribe gathering follows a simple pattern: learn a skill, practice it together, reflect and pray, and enjoy time in God’s creation as a family.

The Badge Paths

Badges and skills are organized into three practical, family-focused paths:
01. Frontier Skills
Outdoor ability and homesteading skills—firecraft, gardening, herbal basics, foraging, woodworking, simple repairs, and time in creation.
02. Formation
Christian practices and character development—prayer, Scripture memory, devotion, service, virtue, fitness challenges, and habit training.
03. Family Life
Skills that strengthen the home—cooking, food preservation, home projects, teamwork chores, hosting, and serving together.
Families are not spectators at FOF. They are active participants, growing together through hands-on life.

Mission

Our mission is to strengthen Christian families by giving them a shared way of life built on faith, practical skills, outdoor challenge, and simple rhythms. We help parents lead with confidence and children grow with purpose.

Vision

We envision Tribes across the country where families gather outdoors, mark Christian seasons with meaning, build real-world skills, and grow in unity and resilience. FOF exists to help families reclaim a common life shaped by Christ and lived out together.

Why Families Need This

Most programs divide families. FOF brings them back together.

Parents want to form their children in faith, maturity, and capability, yet modern schedules make this nearly impossible. Families need structure, rhythm, and shared purpose. They need practical skills, outdoor time, and Christian traditions that anchor the year. They need formation that comes from doing life together—not from separating into age groups.
Families of the Frontier gives families exactly that: a clear path, a steady rhythm, and a community that strengthens the whole household.
